veteran's day


A soldier from Taos pueblo. We certainly don't hear much about Indians in the military.

Yes, John's right "of course"!
And the Navajos know the story of Ira (although he was a Pima, I think) and his role in raising the flag on Mt. Surabachi that day on Iwo Jima. The military is a very big part of hope for Native Americans and respect. There's more of course. Thanks for the picture...it is reflective of a deep seam in the history of the US west.
