Coping with the Cold

In response to Sylvia's incredibly balmy looking photos of Davis, I thought I'd respond by providing an update of the status of the weather here in Maine.

Incidentally, college kids tend to have somewhat of a backwards thought process than normal people, choosing to embrace the cold rather than shut it out...

isn't this winter amazing! it just goes on and on and on and on. Great photos. Where is the one of you jumping in? We know you did! Thanks or posting, Eliza. It's always a surprise to log on and see something that I didn't put there.

Wow! What an incredible winter wonderland! I can't even imagine. It looks so cozy. Well, the first pictures made me feel cozy but the next ones look frigid!! Brrr! Was there a Penguin Plunge club that set up that swim? How did you get the honor of holding the drill? I'm vry impressed. Beautiful photos! You're helping me vicariously get a satisfying dose of winter. Thank you!

As head of the Outing Club's Hikes and Trips department, I helped organize what Bates calls the annual "Puddle Jump"! It's so fun to see how enthusiastic students get about it, even though most of them do it because of peer pressure and to say they did. Miserably cold, but a fun tradition!

Brrrr! It looks stunningly cold.... and beautiful.

Living in Hong Kong, we've lost all sense of what cold is. Our bodies have acclimated to the warm weather and gone soft.

At least there are still some hardy souls out there with a sense of adventure!

Thanks for keeping us up to date with your goings on.
