Memories of breakfasts past

I have been scrolling through my photo archives to find images of breakfasts shared. It seems I have always seen breakfast as a photo opportunity. The morning light pours in, the colors are good, and everyone is enthusiastic about eating the first meal of the day.

I may not have been a great sailor, but I did enjoy the meals on board...especially because David was the chef. New York City is a great place for breakfast. The top photo is vintage, eight years ago at Pain Quotidian!  The photo above taken at Sarah Beth's Kitchen on the Upper West Side a few years ago.  Add to that John, our breakfast guest, who was willing to eat yogurt and  granola for breakfast and most recently served me the same healthy meal when I visited in Fort Lee! yum.

What did you have for breakfast today?

Fat free yogurt, grape nuts, blanched almonds, sliced strawberries, flax, diet iced tea.
Yum!

breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Especially soft boiled eggs and toast in Lincoln lately!!! SO good. This morning I had a smoothie for breakfast with flax, blueberries, banana, hemp oil, kale and almond milk in the blend tech that we got for our wedding and use every single day (like the vacuum- maybe every week for that one!). Love this post mom! and I love breakfast the most on boats, I am with you on that! Love C

What is it about breakfast? I love it, too. Boulder-made granola and yogurt, English breakfast tea in my favorite mug that Carrie gave me, and NPR. Gets me out of bed every morning!

And Carrie, that is the hippiest breakfast I've ever heard of!

Now is the "hippiest breakfast" a complement?
Just wondering having been a "hippy" kind of, once.

My favorite memories of breakfast anywhere are sitting around that sun warmthed table in Lincoln. From high school to Carrie's wedding, your dining room brings me comfort and nurturing feelings of family.

And yes. Carrie's smoothie does sound quiet hippy-esk. What's the benefit of the help oil? Our smoothies consist of swiss chard, spinach, bananas, blueberries, peaches and yogurt. The boys get wheat germ in theirs but that's a little too healthy for me. Sometimes we add blueberry flax. LOVED Ruthie's Blend Tech while we were visiting. Seriously envious...

Maybe Brad will get a Blend Tech for graduation! Send some hints around, Sylvia. Or, won't people be wanting to give you a house warming gift when you arrive back East? Isn't that what the East Coast folks do? I'm always in your pocket, Sylvia!

As for breakfast....kale from my community garden, banana, carrot, orange, yogurt, raspberries, tumeric for inflammation and some ginger and coconut water. That goes into my smoothy. A fried egg on the side just because. I would rather be eating at Barby's too!

Ruthie, you forgot parsley! A unique, nutrient-rick (strong tasting) alternative (or supplement) to kale. A little too healthy for my standards.

As for a Blend-Tech...ahh...in my dreams I will be blend tech-ing connoisseur!

You guys are so healthy! I love nothing more than a great eggs benedict. Crispy English muffins, bacon, the perfectly poached egg, spinach if it fits, all drowned in hollandaise.

OR, Chinese crullers in a flatbread, with a little bit of soy sauce washed down with soy milk. Delicious!

Sounds good, John. We are not purists!

Eliza and I know a place in Portland, Maine that serves THE BEST eggs benedict and breakfasts in general.
You'll have to go this summer. There is always a long wait on weekends.
The restaurant is called Hot Suppa!!!!
