Fun on US 64

I don't think we are in Massachusetts anymore. We were on the second highest bridge in the US highway system. It spans a gash in the earth that is 650 deep down to the Rio Grande. Oh, the power of water. Anyone for a swim?

Just today my students were writing about scars. I told them about the one where Susie Corby ice skated across my pinky at Rockefeller Center Skating Rink where Dad had left us to skate...alone,,,until he would pick us up for lunch and take us to Shrafts. We went to get emergency stitches instead and I still have the scar. And I told them about the run away horse at Watchung Stables and showed them the place where 17 stitches mended my eyelid and the rusty old razor that sliced my leg in the dark pink bathroom at Camp Hanoum. The kids wanted more, and then they erupted into their own stories. Perhaps I should try Eli's idea...the rubberband and the bridge. I love having a new story now and then! They ignites the young writers! But Eli, YOU be careful! No rubberband bungies for you!
