Beautiful pictures!

Zohra and Behishta, Afghanistan, age 15
Hello! I just wanted to share some pictures a friend of mine took of our young leaders from Afghanistan on culture night at Seeds of Peace International Camp. This is the one evening of the program that they wear traditional dress from their countries. I love these pictures and miss these kids. It is especially hard to read about the escalating violence in Afghanistan, especially in Kabul where they are from. So I suppose when you see Afghanistan in the news don't forget to think of these human faces as you read about what's going on.
All love, Carrie

Hi, Carrie,
These are wonderful stories. They are way more than photos.
When I was in Thailand, we had each AFS student to the US equipped w/ a slide show of the school, national dress, a tape of a national song so they could do the national dance. It was so exciting.
Only half of the US families EVER asked about any of it. It crushed them....of course, esp the young ladies.
It's so great you are doing this. I wish I could help.
We live in a wonderful country. A wonderful, self centered country. Isolated by two oceans. Your work is wonderful (and of course, so are you).

Thank you, Carrie! I love seeing those beautiful faces in their native dress! What complicated, intricate, beautiful clothing (and culture). I've always admired the fiber arts from that part of the world.

I loved visiting you at Seeds of Peace this summer and am so excited that you'll be visiting some of the "campers" in their own countries. Ah that it would be peaceful by then.....

You'll be visiting some in their countries? That sounds wonderful! Where are you going and when?

What beautiful photographs. Even more beautiful is the fact that you know the exquisite individual behind each of those eyes. Thank you for sharing.
