No! The fence first and THEN the plants! Your fence would not keep Ashland deer out and the plants would be gone by morning in my neck of the woods. Fingers crossed it's smooth sailing for you!
How exciting and satisfying! Since there's probably not a strong risk of a frost anymore, given the current climate, I can see how you wouldn't be able to resist planting!
